Research Facilities

Homer Babbidge Library, with total holdings of over 2,000,000 volumes and subscriptions to nearly 17,000 journals, has a balanced collection for the study of both Spanish and Spanish American literature. Special collections include a Chilean and Puerto Rican section, a strong collection of materials on Mexico, and the Madrid Collection, which offers a wide range of materials on all aspects of that city. The Madrid Collection also has strong holdings in periodicals and newspapers (all printed in Spain) that represent a rare and important source of information for all of the Spanish empire, with special emphasis on Latin America.

The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies has a strong and active presence on campus. Graduate students in Spanish are encouraged to participate in the numerous activities of the Center and to take advantage of its special contacts with countries in Central and South America and the Carribean.
