Financial aid in the form of predoctoral fellowships, teaching assistantships, and tuition and fee waivers, is granted on a competitive basis. Both half and full teaching assistants may purchase excellent health-care coverage, heavily subsidized by UConn. This support is determined according to the applicant’s academic record, recommendations, foreign language proficiency, and scholarly promise. Outstanding candidates are also eligible for summer fellowships, and general Graduate School fellowships. Doctoral dissertation research is supported by the Research Foundation through dissertation fellowships and grants for specific research projects.
