Study Abroad

Study abroad is a life-changing experience! We have programs in Paris for either a year or a semester, and in Toulouse for the summer.

PARIS

French majors/minors

If you are considering studying abroad as a French major or minor, be sure to schedule an appointment with advisor Polina Boily here: egl.uconn.edu/get-started or polina.boily@uconn.edu. During the session, you will gain valuable insights into studying abroad, explore different programs, discuss UConn credits, navigate costs and financial aid, and more.

To ask questions to a Paris ambassador/former program participant, contact Professor Valérie Saugera (valerie.saugera@uconn.edu).

Paris for beginners

Our Paris programs accommodate students at all levels of French language proficiency; they may then take subject courses taught in English and/or in French.

TOULOUSE

In our Toulouse summer program, students spend 4 weeks in full immersion in the beautiful and sunny South of France. This lively pedestrian-friendly city, with its many universities, boasts a student population that constitutes about a quarter of all residents! Students in our program live with French families in downtown Toulouse, take language and culture classes in the mornings, participate in cultural activities in the afternoons like museum visits, city tours, cruises on the river, cooking classes, and more! In the evenings students gather for concerts and socializing. We plan two excursions on weekends, including one to the medieval city of Carcassonne. Through the program the students earn 6 UConn credits. The program can accommodate students at all levels of French, from zero/beginning-French to intermediate language and advanced courses. In Toulouse, we also offer a very popular French culture class, taught in French by the UConn professor directing the program.

You may contact Professor Mary Beth Allen (mary.allen@uconn.edu) for any questions you have regarding the program.
