Undergraduate

he French and Francophone Studies program offers dynamic major and minor degrees that prepare students for careers in such increasingly globalized fields as business, engineering, and public health and for service to the state of Connecticut as French language teachers.

An official language of over 40 countries and governments, French is one of the fastest-growing languages on earth, with the number of primary speakers projected to grow from 235 million to 700 million speakers over the next 25 years, especially in Africa and the Caribbean.

We offer vibrant study abroad programs for our French minors and majors, including semester and year-long programs in Paris and a summer program in Toulouse, Southern France.

Our section hosts numerous extra-curricular events, including Conversations françaises, cooking workshops, and learning how to learn roundtables.

Technopole France, a five-year dual degree program with the School of Engineering, gives a unique opportunity to engineering students to gain hands-on experience abroad: students spend their fourth year at the Université Fédérale de Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, where they do an internship in addition to their coursework.
