Zhupeng Li

Zhupeng Li (he/him) is a Ph.D. candidate in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies at the University of Connecticut. His research focuses on second language acquisition, task-based language teaching, learner individual differences, and AI-assisted language learning. His dissertation, “Effects of Task Complexity and Foreign Language Anxiety on Chinese Foreign Language Learners’ Speech Production,” investigates how cognitive task demands and affective variables influence speech fluency, accuracy, and complexity in L2 Chinese. He has shared his work at conferences such as AAAL, ACTFL, and CLTA, and his recent publication appears in TESL-EJ.

Zhupeng joined the department in 2022 and has taught a range of Chinese language and culture courses, including Business Chinese, Intermediate and Elementary Chinese, and Chinese film. His teaching emphasizes communicative approaches, cultural integration, and technology-enhanced instruction to support learner development and engagement.
