LCL Welcomes Ambar Sengupta As Interim Department Head

The Department of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages is pleased to announce that Ambar Sengupta, professor of mathematics, will serve as interim head of the department for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Professor Sengupta brings extensive academic and administrative leadership experience to the role. He recently completed his term as head of the Department of Mathematics, a position he held since 2016. During his tenure, he led the department with openness, thoughtfulness, and a strong commitment to supporting faculty, staff, and students.

Ofer Harel, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, affirms his gratitude to Professor Sengupta for his “willingness to step into this role and provide leadership during this period of transition. His extensive experience as a department head will bring valuable perspective, continuity, and stability to the Department of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages.”

As interim head, Professor Sengupta will provide leadership for the department throughout the 2026–2027 academic year.
