Undergraduate

The Spanish program offers interdisciplinary courses to prepare students for a major, or a minor, in Spanish. These courses are designed to emphasize on transferable skills for the 21st Century:

  • Critical thinking, communication skills, problem solving, collaboration, technology skills and digital literacy, global awareness, or social awareness.
  • You can use these skills toward any number of career goals including teaching, graduate study, law, business, etc...

Our courses focus on culture, literature, film, thought, and language as communication in the Spanish speaking world. It is a great program to major, to combine with another discipline, or to complete a dual degree program.

Our student body is as diverse as their experiences with Spanish Culture and Language. Some of the profiles are:

  • Second language learners – students whose native language is English or other World Language, who have taken Spanish language courses.
  • Heritage learners- a student whose family speaks Spanish at home and might not have taken Spanish courses at school

Language experience:

Early College Experience students: 1-2 Spanish courses taken in high school that counts towards the minor or major.

Heritage Learners: Might be placed in an open division course that will count towards a minor or major.
