Graduate Financial Aid

Funding is competitive and assigned on the basis of merit. Graduate funding is available through pre-doctoral fellowships from the Graduate School, summer fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships that include foreign language teaching and introductory courses taught in the English language. Special awards include the Outstanding Scholar's Award, which requires teaching but guarantees full funding for three years; dissertation fellowship awards, offered once the dissertation prospectus has been approved, as well as U.S. government grants for which graduate students are eligible. There may be some part-time positions available in the Modern & Classical Languages computer laboratory (Multimedia Language Center) and the Critical Languages Program. The funding for teaching assistants for research assistants for 2005/2006 will be as follows:

Financial aid in the form of predoctoral fellowships, teaching or research assistantships and tuition and fee waivers is granted on a competitive basis and is determined according to the applicant's academic record, recommendations, foreign language proficiency, and scholarly promise.

Forms for application and financial aid may be obtained by writing to the Graduate School, Admissions Office, Box U-6-A, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269-1006. Applications should be submitted by March 1 and should include GRE Test Scores.
